Have a look at my latest novelette, Striking Sparks. One of the main characters is cheating on his fiancee. Is cheating totally taboo in romance? What if you don't think of yourself as a romance writer? I don't. But if my audience is composed of romance readers, it's something to consider.

Bad Habits

There are all kinds of sloppy habits a writer can pick up, and chances are you could poll a dozen writers and come up with a cozen areas in sore need of improvement. What's your bad habit? Here are a few I've noticed in others' writing, and my own:
similes
adjectives & adverbs
moaning
raised eyebrows
past participles

What's you're writing clutch? Fling it aside for a single short story and see if it still sounds like you. If not, give some serious consideration that it might sound better.
