Last Episode

Last episode I challenged you to set a goal and then reward yourself. I found this cool website, NetVibes.com, that helps me organize my tasks.

Ideas and Followthrough

Ideas feel precious when you don't have any! It's the execution of those ideas, however, where the magic comes in. Two other writers joined me in writing a flash fic from the prompt, "Character A tries to bribe Character B into taking off his/her clothes." We were really surprised by the outcome. You couldn't find three more different stories if you tried.

(Special thanks to Erin and DeboraK for helping me out with this!)

Your Assignment

Find a spot in one of your current stories where either you're stuck, or you think it falls a little flat. Rework the section three times, making each reworking as radically different from the others as possible. By doing this, you'll stimulate both the idea-generation and the practical application parts of your creativity.

Hi Jordan, I just met you recently through your podcasts and have caught up to your most recent. I started listening to writer's podcasts and your's caught my attention. I have always wanted to write something in this genre, but I've always wanted to write anything in general. I tend to study it more than actually write.

Your series of podcasts and topics are spot on with teaching me how to write! I really enjoy the subjects and the assignments are great. I've only done half of one due to my schedule this week, but I intend to do all.

Thank you so much for your mentorship and keep doing the great work! I will purchase any book on writing that you happen to publish!

Hi Cynthie! I'm happy to hear you're trying out the assignments! I hope you let me know if any questions occur to you. I'm always looking for stuff to talk about. You can email questions to me at jcp.heat (at) gmail.com.

I know what you mean about writing erotica/writing in general being linked. I find that you can't just address the erotica portion without trying to make your writing (in general) decent as well. I like to study writing technique, too; I think it's a way of gearing up toward writing something yourself. Sometimes when my own writing isn't going well, I find that reading someone else's advice on technique and craft gets me inspired to keep going.

Nice to meet you, and thanks for commenting! ~Jordan
